I used to do a ‘Motivational Monday’ blog post every week and I thought I would try and bring this back. I think it is important to try and start the week as positively as possible and sometimes we need a push in the right direction.
We often talk about showing our appreciation for other people and the things they do for us but how often do we show ourselves self appreciation?
I know I can be quick to put myself down and criticise myself for things that I do wrong but very rarely do I thank myself for the things that I do well or get right.
This week I am going to try and take the following steps to try and show more self-appreciation:
- Be Yourself – this is literally one of those things that is what it says on the tin. You can never appreciate yourself if you are pretending to be someone you are not. Recognised your weaknesses but also recognise your strengths.
- Don’t Wait – Don’t wait for someone else to appreciate you or something you have done. You don’t need to have achieved something major you could appreciate smaller things that you take for granted.
- Be Kind To Yourself – When you get things wrong try and see the positives in the situation and not be too hard on yourself. Think about what you would say to someone else in a similar situation, would you be so hard on them too?
