What does it mean to feel truly alive?

This is the true story of how Matt Haig came through crisis, triumphed over a mental illness that almost destroyed him and learned to live again. Moving, funny and joyous. Reasons to Saty Alive is more than a memoir. It is a book about making the most of your time on earth.

My Thoughts

Reasons to Stay Alive by Matt Haig is more than a memoir or autobiography it is quite a raw and honest account of Matt Haig’s experience of anxiety and depression.

The book discusses how one can overcome anxiety/ depression, particularly Matt Haig’s experience. I think that Reasons to Stay Alive is also a good insight for those who haven’t experienced these issues theselves.

Matt Haig describes and explains the thoughts and feelings/ ups and downs associated with anxiety and depression really well. These thoughts and feelings can often be hard to explain so I think this book would make for good reading for those with a loved one experiencing mental health if they want to understand what their loved one is going through.

I found that this book put into words the things I haven’t been able to in regards to my struggles with anxiety and depression however I do not think you would need to have suffered from anxiety or depression to benefit from reading this book.

The reason for only 4.5 not a full 5 stars is due to not being overly sure on the writing style at the beginning but this soon grew on me. I would say stick with it as you will get used to the format of the book.
